Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl
 
The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl team is comprised of 4th and 5th graders. Team tryouts in will take place in the fall and are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, September 24. The list of books for the 2019-2020 school year can be found here. Three of these books will be used for the tryout. The 3 books are: Granted, The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street and Wishtree
 
Book Descriptions Please read the descriptions/reviews before returning the permission slip. If there are any of these books (outside of the tryout books) that you do not want your child to read, your child may still participate.

Our team is limited to 15 students, 10 of which will compete for Vanderlyn.. With one returning student, we project we will have space for 14 new team members.

                      Media Center Hours                      
7:40am - 2:00pm, Monday - Friday
 When visiting the library in small groups, students need a pass from their teacher. 
 
                      Checkout Allowances                       
Students in grades PreK through 3 may have 2 books checked out at a time. Fourth and fifth graders may have 3 books. 
 
The loan period is two weeks. Books must be returned on time in order to check out new books.
