Vanderlyn School Council Nominees 2017-2019

Vidya Chandrasekhar

I, Vidya Chandrasekhar, have ample experience working with children and academicians in three different states in USA. I have been one of the Coordinators of PTO in Queen City Stem School, Charlotte, NC where we turned a start up to one of the most successful schools in the region. Direct association with administrators has given me the knowledge to handle budgets, conduct events, focus on academic goals and achieve successful results. Exposure to international platforms has given me a chance to interact with people of different cultures.

As my two kids look to a promising future at Vanderlyn elementary, I too want to serve in the school council. Thank You!

Aynsley Corbett

I graduated from Vanderbilt University and obtained my doctorate in clinical psychology. Currently, I am on staff at CHOA and have a private practice specializing in pediatric psychology. I served on the Parent Teacher Council at Chesnut before deciding to move. Since I have two daughters at Vanderlyn, it is very important to me that Vanderlyn remains a school of excellence. Since 2013, I have served as a room parent, helped with VanderDash, and served on the PTO Executive Committee. As my 2-year term as PTO Treasurer comes to an end, I would be honored to serve on the School Council. I hope to use my extensive knowledge in the assessment and wellbeing of children, my years of experience consulting with schools, and my ability to communicate with council members and staff to ensure an educational environment where every child can excel.

Justin Delfino

Justin Delfino is a Dunwoody based father of three who is enthused to participate in his children's education. He currently has two students enrolled at Vanderlyn Elementary School and a third who is eager to join soon. When not coaching his kid's soccer and basketball teams, Justin is an attorney in the Division of Enforcement of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Specifically, Justin works in the Public Finance Abuse Unit where he specializes in investigating and prosecuting violations of federal securities laws related to municipal bond offerings, public pensions, and government corruption. In his free time, Justin enjoys watching college football and playing soccer.

Kim Loustalot

Kim has had multiple opportunities and experiences throughout school. college, grad school, and working to develop and implement strong leadership skills. She has taught, coached, spoken, and led small group environments for all ages in several activities and communities. She is new to the Dunwoody community, but not to the Atlanta area. She has gotten involved in our community activities and offers fresh insight to the Vanderlyn team. With 2 kids currently enrolled and a baby future Viking, she would be an excellent addition to the council!

Sarah Parrish

My name is Sarah Parrish. I have two daughters at Vanderlyn, rising 2nd and 5th graders. For the past three years, I have been a member of the PTO Executive Committee and Board of Directors. I am currently in my second year as PTO Co-President, working closely with the PTO and Administration at Vanderlyn. From 2013-2014, I served as the 2nd Vice President of Ways and Means, which oversaw Annual Fund, VanderDash, Merchant Partners, Spirit Wear and Book Fairs. Prior to that, I co-chaired the Grounds Committee, and served on the VanderDash, New Families and Lunch Bunch committees. I also have volunteered as a room parent.

As a Dunwoody native and a graduate of Vanderlyn Elementary, keeping our school successful is very important to me. I would be honored to continue my volunteer work at Vanderlyn as a member of the School Council.

Daniel Utreras

“Not being biologically related to a child doesn't make you any less of a parent. Being a real parent isn't in the DNA, its in the heart.” unknown.

I would like to be considered for school council for three reasons.

I was a volunteer teacher in a juvenile detention center for a year. I strongly believe that children’s education shapes our future.

I choose to stay home with my three daughters 4 years ago and despite it being the hardest thing I have ever done, it has been the happiest years of my life.

I have worked for companies like Coca Cola and REI where I was able to use the knowledge acquired during my MBA in strategy.
